Michael Malasnik has been in the insurance industry since 1992 and has chosen to specialize in high-risk health insurance since 1996. He spent five years at APIPA Healthcare Group/United Health Group administering a high-risk pool for four years and managing commercial small group accounts for another year. In 1999, he also began brokering individual health-insurance coverage as an independent broker. Through his experience, Michael became aware of a rapidly growing population of people who were struggling to find health insurance due to pre existing conditions. In an effort to serve this group, he researched medical underwriting until he found several different companies and ways to help these people find the coverage they needed.
